Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 5, 2026

At KinderReady Path, we take your family's privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have under U.S. privacy laws including COPPA, FERPA, and state privacy regulations like CCPA/CPRA.

Privacy at a Glance

  • Parents own all data about their children — we never share it with schools or districts
  • We comply with COPPA: parents provide verifiable consent before any child data is collected
  • Our design is FERPA-aligned: no student educational records are stored or shared with institutions
  • Payment data is processed securely by Stripe — we never see or store your card numbers
  • You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. This is used for authentication, account management, and communication about your subscription.

Child Profile Information

To personalize your kindergarten readiness experience, you may create a child profile that includes your child's name, birth date, U.S. state of residence, and target kindergarten start date. You may also choose a display icon and color theme. This information is used solely to tailor readiness checklists, curriculum recommendations, and progress tracking for your family.

Progress & Journal Data

As you use the app, we store your child's milestone progress (e.g., skills marked as mastered or in progress), optional parent notes, and optional journal photos you upload. These are linked to your child profile and visible only to you, the account holder.

Notification Preferences

If enabled, we store your preferred notification time and send daily activity reminders. Notification settings can be changed or turned off at any time.

Payment & License Information

For individual purchases ($4.99 full access or $1 additional child profile), we store a record of your payment status and Stripe session ID. For district or daycare license redemptions, we store the license key used. We do not collect or store credit card numbers, bank details, or full payment credentials — all payment processing is handled securely by Stripe.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and authenticate your login
  • To generate personalized readiness checklists, state curriculum recommendations, and daily activities
  • To track and display your child's progress over time
  • To send optional daily activity notifications (only if you enable them)
  • To verify payment or license redemption and grant appropriate app access
  • To generate downloadable progress reports and certificates for your personal use
  • To provide customer support and respond to your inquiries
  • To improve our content, features, and user experience through aggregated, de-identified analytics

We never sell your personal information or your child's information to third parties. We never use your child's data to train artificial intelligence models or for advertising purposes.

3. Children's Online Privacy Protection (COPPA)

KinderReady Path is designed for parents and guardians to use on behalf of their children. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), 16 C.F.R. Part 312:

  • Parental consent required: All child profile information is provided by a parent or legal guardian who has created an account. By creating a child profile, you provide verifiable parental consent for the collection of your child's information as described in this policy.
  • Limited data collection: We only collect information necessary to provide the kindergarten readiness tracking service — no excessive or unnecessary data is gathered.
  • No direct contact with children: The app does not communicate directly with children. All notifications, emails, and communications are directed to the parent or guardian account holder.
  • Right to review and delete: Parents can review, modify, or delete their child's information at any time within the app or by contacting us. Account deletion permanently removes all associated data.
  • No behavioral advertising to children: We do not display behavioral advertising or track children across third-party websites or services.

4. FERPA Alignment

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of student educational records. KinderReady Path is designed to be FERPA-aligned:

  • Parent-owned data: All data in the app is owned by the parent, not the school or district. The app is a parent tool, not an official educational record system.
  • No PII shared with districts: Even when a district or daycare provides a license key, we do not share any student personally identifiable information (PII), progress data, or usage data with that institution. The license key only unlocks access — it does not grant the institution visibility into family data.
  • District-wide insights are aggregated only: Any district-level reporting (available only for Large District plans) uses de-identified, aggregated data that cannot be traced back to individual students or families.

5. California Consumer Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to Know: You can request a copy of the personal information we have collected about you and your child, including the categories of data, sources, and purpose of collection.
  • Right to Delete: You can request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.
  • Right to Correct: You can request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. You may opt out of data sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising (which we do not engage in) at any time.
  • Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Data: You may request that we limit use of sensitive personal information to what is necessary to provide the service.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at kinderreadypath@gmail.com. We will respond within 45 days of receiving your request.

6. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services

We share the minimum data necessary with the following service providers to operate the app:

Stripe (Payment Processing)

Processes all payments securely. We share your email and purchase metadata (e.g., plan type, license key). Stripe handles card data directly — we never see or store it. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.

Base44 (App Platform & Hosting)

Provides the secure database, authentication, and hosting infrastructure for the app. Your data is stored on their encrypted infrastructure. See Base44's Privacy Policy.

We do not share your data with schools, districts, daycares, advertising networks, data brokers, or any other third parties not listed above. Legal disclosures (e.g., response to lawful government requests) are made only when legally required.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted data storage, secure authentication, and access controls. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. We notify affected users of any data breach in accordance with applicable state laws.

8. Data Retention & Account Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we initiate a 30-day grace period during which you can recover your account. After 30 days, your account and all associated data (child profiles, progress, journal photos, payment records) are permanently and irreversibly deleted. You can request deletion at any time from within the app or by emailing us.
